this is already my favorite pose in these waist-up sketches and I'm so happy I get to use it for one of the most confident characters lol. the full thing will drop either tonight or tomorrow, including the front sketch I teased yesterday.
i'm so happy clip studio paint exists.
did someone say "gimme a [redacted game] art drop preview?" yes? bet.
Really happy about the colors on the full thing & will probably be adding a pattern to the sabai she's wearing. Her bust portrait may not come out at the same time as the final front/side; still posing it.
King (King of Fighters). Stylish clothes, stylish haircut, cool & calm confidence, KICKS FOR DAYS, and a good balance between spacing people out and running them down. I'm happy she's back for KOF 15.
Mariah from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Heritage for the Future. Very much outside my normal playstyle and nominally *not* a great character but there's something satisfying about how well HFTF captures her personality and the way she uses her Stand. Makes it fun to work with!
Makoto Nanaya from BlazBlue. Her main mechanic of timed releases for her Drive attacks is incredibly challenging to use under pressure, but rewards you with excellent damage, wild combos, and the occasional chance to 北斗百裂拳 someone into and through the moon.
Elena from Street Fighter. Cammy is of course always my first pick when available, but Elena is a close second. Her animations are so incredibly fluid and full of personality, her energy is all over her characterization, she's just so fun.
Labrys from Persona 4 Arena. She's not as outwardly mobile as my normal set of picks but she hits ridiculously hard, her Persona makes beautiful shapes, and her design is really cool.
Leona from The King of Fighters. Literally a walking Kamen Rider tribute with good anti-airing, great movement, and one of the coolest super moves I've ever seen. Always a staple of my team if she's in a given KoF game.
Samira from League. One of the few characters I got to play at her actual release and use through most of her heaviest changes, & is actually the other thing I miss about playing League--her kit is just so much fun and really emblematic of what a good design eye gets you.
Timelapse of the Coro drawing here. I did very briefly consider actually doing a braided wire design but didn't like how it was coming out so I let it be. What I like about this style by comparison is just how much potential there is for flow in action shots. (2/3)
