I enjoy painting trees all year round but there is something about winter trees which I find is special. Maybe we notice the shapes a bit more when the rest of the landscape is subdued?

Final touches today to this small landscape (10 x 12 inches) Low sun in winter really brings out the colours in the field stubble and vegetation. It’s the warm ochres and violets that attract me. Warm colours in cold weather. How does that work?!

Trying to paint a windy day! ..
I’d made a rough start on this smallish one and was intending to ‘finish’ it. However I’m now not sure how much more it actually needs. I quite like the simplicity. I’m putting it on the ‘think about it’ pile and moving on
