ok I found the storyboard artist who has boarded some of my favourite visuals for Saint Seiya so far. Shigeyasu Yamauchi. He was a board artist and episode director on a number of episodes throughout the original series and pretty much everything from ep 61-onwards

I love that Saint Seiya rapidly went from "magical boy wrestling tournament" to "the totally not catholic church is deeply corrupt and these 14 year olds are going to beat up everyone who uncritically follows its orders until they can punch the Pope in the face to reform it"
