I still thinking how amazing it was that in the year of our lord 2001, (2004 in the USA) we got a 13 ep animated adaption (and OVA), and merch of a popular queer manga that had an ENTIRE custom vocal soundtrack THAT STILL SLAPS TO THIS DAY GO LISTEN. A whole ass GOOD music album.

I think it's hilariously telling when people only bring up "relatability" discourse in Animation & Media to complain about minorities when they have no issue relating to animals, robots, or inanimate objects. Inanimate objects & Creatures are more human to them than actual people
