Not a lot of Rankin Bass characters shoot the villain to death. But when Lily Lorraine caught one glimpse of Winterbolt, she shot his wycked stave to pieces and he metamorphosed into an old dead tree.

He's dead by her hands.

She never stopped smiling.

This character very much inspired my adult interest in Rankin Bass. The unhinged thought process that led to "the island of misfit toys is ruled by a WINGED LION named KING MOONRACER inspires me every day.

They put so much bonkers lore into this universe and explain none of it.

Sam the Snowman portrayed by Burl Ives was the original celebrity host of Rudolph and he's got that voice that makes you go:
"Gadzooks! I've been transported to a time long ago!"

And what drip, might I add. What drip indeed.

The Head Elf is a complicated man. On the one hand, he hates Hermey for wanting to be a dentist.

On the other hand, he hates Hermey in general.

A real puzzle to unravel, this guy.

With the voice of Tim Curry, January Q. Irontail is an Easter Bunny who hates children and also Easter.

He's a hammy bad guy for sure which is perfect for Easter which really needs more holiday villains in my opinion. The only other one I can think of is the whole movie HOP.

Old 1M, the new year baby from 1 million BC is all about spreading those good happy vibes. 'It's raining sunshine' as he's so eager to point out.

He also probably does kill the singing dinos who join in on the chorus. Those singing dinos got the best meat.

Sometimes a guy's just like, "I want to be a dentist"

He's motivated, he's qualified, he's educated. He's done everything right.

Sometimes things don't work out for Hermey the elf.

Shame.
