The inhabitants of the plains (Arabs) are not only foreign conquerors but they are also uncivilized and nomadic, therefore they don't deserve to own the lands they live in & can't even cultivate them: the expropriation of their lands by the French was therefore justified
🔍Focus on the Moors:
In earlier years it was said majority of the pop were moors.
But in order to justify colonialism & support the idea the region was uncivilized & in need to be enlightened by France they shifted the narrative & claimed moors were only a negligible minority.

Divide most of the population into 2 main categories:
1) The natives: the Moors and the Amazigh
2) The non natives: Arabs.
In the source that inspired this thread, the french often used the terms Berber/Amazigh and Kabyle interchangeably.
However, the movie didn't focus on religion nor specifically address the topic of religion.
Religion was merely part of the general setting.

These modern buildings are cost effective and practical when it comes to housing a growing number of urban citizens.
However I still wish we didn't put the aesthetics of traditional architecture and our identity at stake when trying to answer these issues.
