@noclaws4alarm @Papi_B_Dubs And now you can point to your ever-growing stack of listings in the Library of Congress and https://t.co/uCKoHwuILD and tell him to go fuck himself inside out.
@devinparker199 @noclaws4alarm has designed covers for every book I've published myself (that is, every one that's not published by some other company) for the last 18 years. I commission the artists and art-direct those covers, but Sherry handles design and we collaborate beautifully.
@SummersDenise_ Lightning Source (where we got an account back when micropresses could still employ that service) is our printer. We handle all other elements (design, editing, illustration, audiobooks, etc.) with our team of pro collaborators: @noclaws4alarm, @ivytarablair, @SymeBryan, etc.
@nbattleyauthor I've self-published three books in the past year. That said, I've worked in the publishing business for over 30 years, have pro friends and pro skills, enjoy a global fan base, and yet STILL find it to be a frustrating and exhausting experience.
Despite all the challenges and pains of 2021, this year marks not only the publication of my first novel (in four formats) but also an extremely successful preorder campaign that sold over 200 copies of that novel before its general release.

@ejhughes21 Hire a professional editor, cover artist, and graphic designer. It costs less than you'd expect, and the results are worth it.
@chuckskribbles These days, if you employ the right people and quality standards, you can self-publish books indistinguishable from those released by major houses. Pro-grade editing and graphics aren't cheap; neither, though, is waiting five years for that major house to get its ducks in a row.
