The mechanics of suits and mecha were beautifully explained, which helped me understand the series tenfold.
Every inch of these suits for example has an explainable purpose and safety feature.
They even dove into the creation of the Takemikazuchi and other TSF facts in detail

I loved how the characters all developed and grew
Even the characters I might have found annoying at first or self-righteous, they all had great character arcs with solid endings, so I can't complain
