When we come to these game industry events we always create fun things to give out, like these 3D printed Bread & Fred logos that are nice to display on a shelf.

Before the Fable we all know by Lionhead Studios, there was Fable by Sirtech in 1996. I found this ad for it looking thru old mags. I don't think this game was on by radar back when it came out.

Came across this 1996 ad in PC Gamer for Epic's game, Fire Fight, developed by Chaos Works and published by Electronic Arts. I remember when this came out but never played it back then. It's an explore-anywhere hunt-and-destroy style shooter.

When Gearbox took over ownership of the Duke Nukem IP in 2010, they created a 4-issue comic that, IMO, represented Duke really well, both in terms of art and in terms of Duke's personality. (Hopefully the film producers reference these issues.) Any thoughts on this comic series?

Just caught wind that a 1998-99 version of Apogee's Quake-engine version of Duke Nukem Forever is about to be leaked by the same person who's been leaking numerous other games recently. The person has publicly released a few preview images. I can confirm these are legit.

PC Zone took the black & white version of Max Payne's image and made it even more striking in red. In their article they wrote about sniper cam (2nd pic), an idea I came up with: have the camera follow the bullet from the rifle to the target.

A little something different for Sunday: The most influential marketing book I ever read (back in 1993), which taught me the importance of highly focused brands, and lead to the creation of the 3D Realms label in 1994. Look for newer editions that are now out.

Getting a shotgun in Duke Nukem 3D required a real shotgun, and then one of Apogee's artists, Stephen Hornback (RIP), photographed himself holding it, then he painstakingly cleaned up the digital image, then he created the sprites seen in the game.

These are from 1991, when I hired an artist to create the original Apogee logo. I remember telling the artist I wanted a comet tail until the logo. These were his initial drawings.
