Notice also how the negative space means you read it in two distinct impressions; left then right. Context alone makes the carpet feel very different on the right; suddenly cheap & ready to be rolled up and tossed in a closet.

Angels in editorial cartoons are a hoary cliché, but I love this one by @deAdder for its brevity & the universe of meanings in the fist bump.
An elegant example of visual symbolic compression for those following U.S. politics closely (even if kinda baffling for anyone else).
