DADAJI'S PAINTBRUSH, which comes from Rashmi Sirdeshpande and Ruchi Mhasane, is the open-hearted and tender — oh, the tenderness! — intergenerational story of a boy and his grandfather in India. And it’s a thing of beauty. More at 7-Imp: https://t.co/3EwFyMXKIo.

It is striking to me how Karl James Mountford addresses death in THE CIRCLES IN THE SKY. To be sure, there are plenty of picture books out there that address the topic, but Mountford does it in a way that pays tremendous respect to child readers: https://t.co/5HuqUhgENc.

Nina, who lives in San Francisco, has a Nana in England and a Nenek in Malaysia. NANA, NENEK & NINA is the debut picture book from author-illustrator Liza Ferneyhough, who dedicates the book to her own British-Malaysian-American family. More at 7-Imp: https://t.co/dYg0jgNwlc.

Sadly, we lost author-illustrator John Burningham in 2019, but he had been working on a story. AIR MILES was finished by Bill Salaman and ill. by Helen Oxenbury (though the book includes some art from John). More on the poignant AIR MILES at 7-Imp today: https://t.co/8wUaLbORR2.

Ali Bahrampour's MONSTERS IN THE FOG (a lot like William Steig and Jon Agee have cocktails in a bar and then go buy a round for James Marshall) is one of my favorites this year. At 7-Imp, a link to my review of it + art + sketches from Ali: https://t.co/OItTig5BTi.

At 7-Imp: Nina Crews on I'M NOT SMALL and how she momentarily put down her camera to work in a new style. She also gives me a sneak peek at her illustrations for Tameka Fryer Brown’s NOT DONE YET: SHIRLEY CHISHOLM'S FIGHT FOR CHANGE, coming this November: https://t.co/DmkM5Seymf.

"Within the book is the reminder that even when you feel alone, you’re not alone. What a good human story that is, brought to you by a little toy rabbit." Erin Stead on creating the illustrations for the 100th anniversary edition of THE VELVETEEN RABBIT: https://t.co/zDWvfEOpa1.

At 7-Imp today, Barbro Lindgren’s THE TALE OF THE TINY MAN, illustrated by Eva Erikkson, originally written in 1979, and translated in a new edition by Julia Marshall. O! The drama! The pathos! The desolation! The joy! It’s ALL THE FEELINGS: https://t.co/pTNPpFNgoE.
