It's a reference to Amaterasu, from Okami. A phenomenal game that actually got remastered recently, I recommend playing it if you get the chance.

@Lorekeeper_GGuy 1; much like Gaia, Varyn has 5 "strands" of "hair"

2; in the Hytale H, oddly enough they seem to be actually duking it out with their "hair" (weird focus on hair)

And 3; Varyn may also be a god. A close relation in name to Varun, which basically means the god of water.

I have a few reasons to believe this, first of all on Earth, T-Rex's were colossal. Absolutely huge beasts, and being Frank it'd be hard to make something that big an enemy in Hytale, especially underground. Secondly, *the bones*

Alternatively that they were the same person in different points in time. They have some similarities that made me think so.

Gaia obviously has the 5 pearls, but did you notice Varyn has 5 strands of "Hair"?
