This may be something of a deep cut, but Laxia from Ys VIII made me wish the player character wasn't literally as dense and non-emotive as possible. She's... smart, capable, and compassionate. Also, while her design might not be super practical, I think it's neat.

I think Lucina Fire Emblem is the first character I romanced in a video game. She doesn't mess around. She's prepared to put the entire future on her back and carry it alone if she needs to, but she's still very kind and mature beyond her years (and her father). I be mirin'
