Production wise, it was great to see a show with K-On! character designer! gave me it a real nostalgic feel to me plus they leave a lot of space to the animators to be creative and expressive with their faces

Im no expert on the subject but to me it never felt like Oscar trully identified as a man. Her calling was serving in the army and to do that she understood that she needed to be a man. By times she exposed her womanhood but to her it almost felt weak to do so...

Antoinette fails as a Queen for having too strong naive ideals and wishing to be there as mother for her kids. A tragic fate for her.
Story wise tho, I really enjoyed the petty royal drama of the first half it was a great soap opera

I found it interesting that basically the whole first half was focused on Marie Antoinette instead of the obvious lead Oscar. Seeing her ascend to the throne as child and beeing manipulated sets up the viewer (at least me) to feel bittersweet about the revolution later on
