Lithographs by #EdwardLear from #JohnGould's 'Birds of Europe', a large-scale work on European bird-life published in five volumes between 1832-1837. Gould wrote the text & it was illustrated with 448 lavish plates, 68 of these by Lear.

We absolutely love these 1930s wallpaper designs by Edward Bawden. He would first cut the design into lino with his penknife, apply oil paint and then print onto the paper by standing on the lino.

The artist, Rose Mawson, was disabled & spent time painting wildflowers. Her sister gave them to us in 1942 because she'd loved a wildflower exhibition at the museum & wanted to say thanks!
