Like I thought using this as reference would make it easier but no joke I couldn't even replicate this style

I did this shit edit of a rebuild anime color inspired Mazinger Z from Mazinkaiser ala the rebuilt Great Mazinger Tetsuya got in the finale

not sure who'd pilot it but I imagine maybe Sayaka given her Venus A got totaled and I doubt Koji would downgrade from Kaiser

This has to be one of the most disoriented Vapor Trash things out there and certainly one of my weirdest idea's I had on the fly

@Petsuchan apparently that got Yasuhiro Imagawa and Phoenix Entertainment in trouble with Toei who felt the designs were too similar to their version, but was eventually settled by having to pay Toei a fee per minute of footage GR was in, which lead to Robo not appearing much in the series

@Petsuchan that sounds right

Giant Robo also is in Otaku no Video in the theme park scene, which is a very obscure reference to the unused ending of the toku where Robo retires to a theme park

also the missile fingers in Gunbuster come from the toku, right down to the missile emblems.

RIP Eiko Hanamura (1929-2020)

A pioneer in Shojo manga, Eiko Hanamura helped nail the iconic styles that many Shojo manga's use today and is by extension a huge inspiration for how I draw my OC's.

She quietly passed away in her Tokyo home at age 91

Godspeed, Ms. Hanamura!
