I think I never showed Mei Lin in complete with her weapon. She is a mix between a rogue and engineer and her spear is a technical wonder with a lot of different functions. It can transform into many different tools and weapons like a crossbow, grappling hook, drill and more...

New OC idea
She has an ancient artifact which contains an evil spirit. She tries her best to keep him away from others because it has an unstoppable hunger for qi (lifeforce). He can't attack the owner. Instead he tries to make her life miserable so she might give up her duty.
