The most famous pre-WWI racers, the Stutz’ victories were highly publicized. They were powerful and competed extensively in road racing throughout America. This success spurred passenger car sales as “the car that made good in a day.

This auto is included in our collection as a sports car, more for its outstanding technical innovations than its performance, although Lancia did take part in the first (1927) Mille Miglia race and earned the top-three finishes.
In 1912, a stripped down National “Semi-Racing Roadster”, identical to the car in the collection, won the great Indianapolis 500 race.
