Once I started trying to profit from indie art, I had to reaffirm for myself that my art was good, even if it would never be “popular” or “make money.” Something even anti-establishment socialists need to learn to dissociate is “success” (social or financial) from “quality.”

At first, I had to relearn it after art school. Now that I (thought I) knew what “good” and “bad” were, critically (and a muddied idea of where I sat), I had to train myself to see my strong points, and how to emphasize them, rather than only focusing on my deficiencies.
