When it comes to conversations with a lot of moving around, I shift back to full shots because now the entire environment is a factor here. Characters are moving AROUND the area and its better to show full shots to illustrate them not being in the same place as before
Another personal way I like using empty space is by filling it with things that are the topic of the scene/conversation but not actually present at the scene. Such as these two examples where characters are being directly mentioned however aren't actually in the scene
For example! Using more of it to show more kinetic shots and emphasizing its motion. I personally hate when negative space is used just to drag out a more still, motionless shot when the idea of scrolling down to read can really add to the feeling of motion going on
