‘Oracles are never what they seem...The more you think you understand them the less you probably do. That’s where the danger lies...the words spoken by oracles are like seeds. They contain a fullness, a pregnancy of meaning, dimensions of relevance only become apparent with time’
I’m reflecting back on what I’ve learned from this year of Covid nightmare. The key thing? Love, kindness and compassion are pearls beyond price. Not a staggeringly original insight I’ll admit, but it’s true.

Crowley, in his Thoth tarot deck, beautifully painted by Frieda Harris, draws on alchemical imagery in several of the cards. For example, the King and Queen in the engraving are represented by Emperor and Empress in the Thoth Tarot, personifying alchemical sulphur and salt.

“In the initiated symbolism, the act of devouring is the equivalent of initiation; as the mystic would say, ‘My soul is swallowed up in God’. (Compare the symbolism of Noah and the Ark, Jonah and the Whale etc.)”

I love Love- though he has wings,
And like light can flee,
But above all other things,
Spirit, I love thee -
Thou art love and life ! O come,
Make once more my heart thy home.

...as I flit between the headstones like a furtive Necromancer...
This early 18th C headstone is badly weathered, but it shows a skull pierced by an arrow. Did death come suddenly?
Reminds me of this old Tarot card where Death carries a bow and arrow.
