These Victorian tiles, c1900 made by Craven Dunnill & Co. were originally made as a fireplace surround, with ruby lustre and grotesque devilish faces. Would love these in my house !

Mnemosyne by Dante Gabriel Rossetti (c. 1876 to 1881). In Greek myth Mnemosyne knows everything, past, present, and future. She is Memory, whereas Forgetfulness is the same as death; Lethe is the river in the underworld which dead souls drink from to forget their previous life.
