Got the masked layers set. Colors not final, but highly configureable! For me that is. I haven't figured out how to share that configurability.
This will be available to patrons once I've had a chance to print, assemble, and photograph them.
Got the color layers set for the base form. Still need to do this for the two armored forms. Using the color layers like this, combined with the usual highlights.
Part of me wants to draw the highlights to the "floor" on the base, to reflect how the lamps light the floor below.
Added some tags. That feels a bit better.
Don't bother trying to translate these runes. I mostly just used them to fill space.
Trying to decide if I want to make the lantern 3d or not, especially at this small scale.
I kind of need to look up a pattern for the shape I'd need.
Another look at this... bat thing. This time possessing a paper lantern (again, not pictured).
I'm not sure about this version of the design.
This variant is a bit more dangerous. Whereas the iron lantern raises defense, the paper lantern raises its magic. Meaning more fire.
The form of the Batacat while it is possessing an iron lantern (not pictured).
The shape of the armor varies from lantern to lantern, and even from ghost-cat to cat-bat-ghost.
Only two will be displayed on the printable miniature: Iron (seen here), and paper.
The base form of the Catabat. Without a lantern, it is actually vulnerable to its own flame! Granted, most folks will only ever see the exposed fire.
Only those who can see ghosts can see this creature!
IS PINK?!?
Starting the color layers.
Since there's going to be three versions, preferably on the same page, I won't be masking these layers just yet.
Changed some of the internal lines around. Made some transparent, cut others entirely.
With the highlights layer, it's looking a bit more spooky.
The light source for this one is meant to be the lantern. I'll worry about making the highlights match the flame color later.
Base colors set for both cat/bat/ghost thing, and the lantern.
I'm noticing a distinct difference in style between ghost/bat/cat thing and the lantern. That should change as I go into shading/highlights.
Okay. Now I'm tired for real. Time for bed.
Is purple!
Also, this is the first miniature I'm doing where I haven't constructed a prototype first. Is it worth doing this way? Who knows!
(I might still prototype the paper lantern variant, because round shapes made of paper/cardstock at tiny scale are hard to do!)
