In the story "Fractured Mirror", Silver the Hedgehog traveled into another zone where Knuckles had become Dark Enerjak, destroying Mobius and transforming the citizens into an army of emotionless Prelate soldiers. #KnucklesMonth

While the Chaotix stayed in New Mobotropolis, the Dark Legion became divided in a Civil War and Locke went missing. Knuckles had no choice but to return and try to set things right. However, he was the last pawn needed in Dr. Finitevus' plot: Enerjak was Reborn! #KnucklesMonth

Knuckles, dead, looked on from the Afterlife with his predecessors ultimately meeting the goddess Aurora. Knuckles learned he could return to the mortal plane, but there was a price. Knuckles was revived, but his Chaos powers were gone. Then one year passed. #KnucklesMonth

Following his successful mini-series, Knuckles received his own monthly ongoing comic series in 1997! Knuckles the Echidna would run for 32 issues with the first multi-part story introducing Enerjak's followers - the Dark Legion! #KnucklesMonth

After appearing in issues of Sonic comics, Knuckles finally broke into his own stories with a Knuckles mini-series: Rites of Passage! This introduced Knuckles' mentor Archimedes and pitted the Chaotix against one of their greatest villains - the godlike Enerjak! #KnucklesMonth
