What is with the costume designs on this cover? Why is Cap(?) covered in studs? Why were Wolverine's claws forged by the Elves of Lothlórien?

I was worried when I started doing them that they'd bug readers, but I haven't gotten any complaints about them yet. I try to insert them between scenes so they don't interrupt the story flow too much.

I have mixed feelings on Renee becoming the Question, since I'm generally against civilian/non-superhero supporting characters becoming superheroes - but damn if these lewks by Cully Hamner don't make me waiver a bit on that front.

On the other hand, I'm not really happy with Viper's stealth costume here. I was trying to put my money where my mouth is with my thing about characters changing up their wardrobe within their aesthetic, but this is just a dud of a design. Oh well, it'll be a one-off.

Quite happy with this bit of "acting." Ironic over-emoting is a hard thing to pull off in comics, but I think I managed it.

I tried to make the figures in the Tokyo Wolf story fairly realistic, but I intentionally pushed the anatomy into the cartoonish on Naruse himself (particularly in the wideshots) to capture some of that Lupin III feel.

In the early Akechi stories, he has a quirk of unconsciously running his fingers through his long hair when he's thinking. This is dropped when Akechi transitions from a slob to a dandy in Western-style dress, but I decided to transfer the trait to his nephew as a nervous tic.

For the Zenigata-role in the Akira Naruse story, I decided to make him a younger cop instead of an older one. Kanaye Akechi is an original character meant to be the never-talked-out nephew of Japanese detective character Kogorō Akechi.
