a less common design pokémon trend i think about a lot is what i call "Alternate Pikachus"- designs that aren't pikaclones, but fill that same pikachu-esque "cutesy mammalian mascot" role for other types

one thing i love about gen 9's designs so far is how many of them are willing to look silly and goofy, playing with proportions and aesthetics in ways that challenge traditional pokémon design conventions

it keeps happening.
