In the very distant past, Bambi and Doe had a maternity figure that was the Form God of Motherhood. One day however, he had underwent False Mortis and was too far gone to be saved and so had to be put down.
They both had to watch as he was murdered by gods they considered friends

As seen here, the bandages on Bambi's eye are actually connected to his eye and can unravel at his will. Despite his eye being heavily damaged, he can see alright out of it. He just covers it up because he knows it scares people.
