Modern "fantasy" mostly uses creatures which are essentially demonized native European ancestral or nature spirits.
The Ogre and Orc are both derived from Orcus, the Etruscan and Roman deity of the underworld. The English Goblin was the same as the Nisse and Domovoy.

Finished another painting of these guys - Drvan the priest and forest dweller. He is mostly in charge of the sacrifices and libations related to chthonic deities and the ancestors.

Since WW2 Europe is the "spoils of war" of the US, keeping it in a position of weakness. Europe is occupied and that's spreading eastward. They want a war with Russia and Europe is their battlefield. If the war escalates Europe will be sacrificed.

Unpopular opinion: Making useless and unrealistic equipment in fantasy art results in an unattractive and boring product. I do not get the OBSESSION with making fantasy equipment so unrealistic. It's fantasy, i get it, but physics and the rules of battle still work the same way.
