This was a self portrait I did on the day that Dash died. 🐀 6 weeks of round the clock care for an unknown illness that we did not know was incurable until it was too late.

So yeah! I went into this project with little vis dev experience, but the crew was so supportive & patient with me over the course of the year we worked together. I’ll always be grateful that someone took a chance on me & have a soft spot for these scrappy critters.

Emiko is not my design, but I enjoyed posing her & exploring her personality. Her posse was designed by me though!

I have another book birthday this month! Stanley the Dog (written by @mrBobbyBones & illustrated by me!) is out on the shelves! I got to illustrate so many drooly, silly pups in this one, it was absolute HEAVEN for me. Thank you @HarperChildrens @BrightAgencyUS & @childbookart !

4 years ago today I lost my wonderful Dash. It may seem weird to cling to the memory of a rat, but anyone who's bonded with one understands that big, beautiful love can come in small packages.

Miss you every day, my little ball of love & light. I haven't been the same since.

Can home from a weekend getaway to this. 🙃

I have a small Xmas tree in my studio, covered in stars I made that each represent the spirit of a departed a rat, mouse & now, a squirrel that I loved.

Cliff is the 30th star.

Thank you everyone for suggestions! Treated myself to those brush packs & tried to break a couple of them in. I am very tired & rusty at the moment but I see great potential in these brushes. Love them.
