One of the major inspirations for Merry Hell was the relationship of Yuno and Miyako from Hidamari Sketch. Merry and Liz respectively draw from these characters, and in Merry’s case I adopted the “symbol” (Yuno’s distinctive ‘X’ hair clips) in the unimaginative form of a bow.

fuck me but the last level of this is some unreasonable-ass shit, unless I missed a secret (possible and indeed likely, as it's rammed with them). genuinely good game that's slightly spoiled by the brutally unfair final stage.
