105 years ago today the composer, folk song collector and morris dancer was killed on the Somme. He was buried by his comrades, but his grave was later lost. He is remembered at the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing.

I N S P I R A T I O N

I discovered the story of Leonard Wattelet when visiting the @usabmc’s Flanders Fields cemetery. His story inspired both a piece of art and further research into his 91st Division. This, in turn, inspired my piece SHOOTING THE BREEZE.
