The locomotive had been donated to the City of Toronto in 1984 to commemorate the sesquicentennial of the city’s incorporation. Not long after this, Spadina Roundhouse was demolished to make way for construction of the SkyDome stadium—now the Rogers Centre. 2/2

The former CP Budd-built Canadian cars moved to Mimico in September. Spadina Roundhouse closed in 1986 and was demolished to make way for Toronto's new domed stadium. 3/3

Apr 9, 1867: an excursion party passes through southern Ontario in the Pullman hotel car "Western World" on the Great Western Railway. This was the first group of passengers that had ever travelled from Chicago through Canada without change of cars at the border. 1/3

Dec 16, 1912: the City of Toronto annexes the suburb of Moore Park, located south of Mount Pleasant Cemetery. The subdivision was laid out in 1889 by John Thomas Moore, who was also a promoter and vice-president of the Toronto Belt Line Railway. 1/2

Nov 13, 1874: Canada's first "great train robbery" occurs on the 5:00 PM Great Western Railway train from Hamilton to Toronto. After leaving Port Credit, five bandits in Ku Klux Klan robes overpowered the American Express agent in the baggage car and emptied the strongbox. 1/2
