Zdarsky and Di Giandomenico are low-key doing one of the best Batman things from DC right now over at THE KNIGHT, bringing a lot of welcome nuance and conflict to Bruce's training years without falling into the easy trap of putting him on a pedestal too early.
Also, real talk...
Tumblr is giving me some kind of message this morning...
Masterpieces all as far as I'm concerned. https://t.co/cXb0Iz9rbG
@NikolaCizmesija Also, I love that DC's been taking more chances with more out-there artists, with people like Christian Ward, Jorge Corona, Sumit Kumar, Riley Rossmo, etc.
After years of being seen as the "House Style" publisher, they've broadened their scope a lot in the last few years.
(Of course, even the rustiest, most weighed down student of the O-Sensei should be more than capable of whipping 99% of the DCU, but then again I'm biased because I got nothing but love for the OG Kung Fu Fighter crew)
Which is why, corny as it is, I love the idea of Ben eventually becoming an inner city martial arts teacher so much. Having accepted that the world won't let him go, he decides to remain in it and do some good there. He rejects isolation and is arguably a better person for it.
See, it's important to note that a lot of Shiva's best-known uses of her healing skills make it a point to show the closeness between her ability to hurt and her ability to heal. The same fingers are used in similar ways to do opposite things. Her duality made manifest.
And other than that, I admit I'm a little tickled that Shiva got the final word on Tatsu in more than one way. It's actually kinda funny how every single episode of this series had at least one panel of Shiva and Katana fighting. They fought each other more than anyone else!
