I have PTSD.
When something actually triggers it, then yeah I can "turn off".
When not, I still laugh and cry and smile. I get angry. If I'm hungry, hot, tired, whatever...I emote.

Me: *trying to make dinner*
Mom: *grabs the spoon & starts taking over* Okay 2 1/2 cups water.
Me: *puts water in a measuring cup*
Mom: Set it down to c-
Me: Mom, I know. Please.
Mom, still taking over: Well you act you don't know how to do anything.
