The concept of Default and Dark characters was borrowed from Samurai Shodown: Warriors Rage. Only in that game the character names would be the same. And it that game the alternates were not always evil. The differences were referred to as Slash and Bust.

NiON. In the RA universe if a Crystal user uses their power to seek revenge, this guy is awakened. It's why Donette suppresses her emotions. He is evil but like Akuma he does have a code: only attacks those he perceives as Strong and Powerful.
