The prompt here is "." Left: old Midjourney. Right: Midjourney V4, which discovers the eternal feminine even in punctuation.

"Whisper." The bias was already there, but it intensifies to the point of kitsch. Don't want to exaggerate the significance of this kind of thing: the default bias of a generative model is easy to see & not hard to override. It might be a smaller problem than it is in humans!

On the left, "Synesthesia," preceding version of Midjourney. On the right, "Synesthesia," V4. Biasing a model toward inferred aesthetic preferences means that abstractions are by default female, and usually white.

Got it. I think one thing I'm learning is: don't mention Rutkowski or Gurney, or maybe even Monet! There is enough gleamy golden-lit fantasy art in the training corpus already, and you need to push this model a little in the other direction.

"Two rhinoceroses with the faces of American presidents Washington and Lincoln." (Since this is an unusual occurrence it seems sort of fair to demand explicit syntax lol!)

"Two rhinoceri, Washington and Lincoln" in It has trouble with Washington's hairline but not esp with the Oxford comma.
