If you drop me subtle hints I assure you that I will catch exactly zero of them.

I have severe sleep apnea so before I got my CPAP I was basically a zombie. I had trouble functioning even on the best of days.

If I go without sleep even caffeine isn't enough to help me. Even if my body has energy from an energy drink or a second wind my brain is long gone.

The phrase "everyone's a little autistic" annoys me so much because it's not only wrong, it's so easily disproven. If everyone was a little autistic then why are autistics so othered?

Just because someone is non-speaking doesn't mean that they can't communicate.

I can't speak for the experiences of non-speaking autistics, but I know that there are non-speaking autistic self-advocates. If people want to drop the names of some please do so.

I'm such a cat person. But what do I mean by that? That I behave like a cat? That I'm fond of cats? That my fursona is a cat?

Yes.

If you like the puzzle piece, and have discerned a different meaning from it that's awesome! But please understand that a lot of us autistics look at it and see nothing but ableism, a hatred of autism, and the support of Autism $peaks.

You've heard of Resting B*tch Face, now there's Resting Autistic Face!

An autistic person could be doing absolutely nothing, and someone will interpret their facial expression as something rude.

Someone getting an autism diagnosis is something that should be celebrated!

When my friend told me that they finally got diagnosed I was so excited! Since I can't celebrate with them in person I figured I'd celebrate with them in comic form.

Talking about a special interest with people sometimes feels like walking a tightrope:

Don't hold back and you talk too much.

Hold back too much and you don't talk enough.

It feels like an incredibly thin line to walk.

I have a friend who I've made a pact with: when one of us wants to leave a social function we inform the other and we leave together, that way we both get out of there before we get too overwhelmed.

Best pact I've ever made in my life.
