The reason the Tenchi gang are dressed up in typical JRPG-style clothing, is because on Gokuraku 2 is a game called:
"Tenchi Quest! The Gokuraku World" A Zelda-style Tenchi game!
There's also an image here where the gang are dressed up as characters from #moldiver and #elhazard!

“Koro-chan” (a Ryo-Ohki lookalike, half cute character and half dragon, it’s name being used in Photon, as well as War on Geminar). The character can transform, comes out of an egg, and uses an ability called “Ghost” where they permeate matter. Sound familiar? #30YearsofTenchi

For the forthcoming Comiket, Kajishima will be releasing a redone version of his doujin The Night Before the Carnival: Heisei Edition 1, which released at #Comiket54. Released with brand new commentary, this new doujin is called Original Edition 22.08. #30YearofTenchi
