one of the EverQuest devs was a Mike Patton fan 😉
both characters are circa 1999 (though the human's model on the right is not the original model and is circa 2001)
their names are Lord Elgnub and Nottap Ekim, which when reversed is Lord Bungle -> Mr. Bungle and Mike Patton
luv this screenshot from an early version of morrowind
Skyrim feels the least strong to me not because i think its bad compared to previous games but because it feels more like an Oblivion rework than its own distinct game, the gameplay is super similar to Oblivion and the shout system feels forced and very anti-rp to me
Oblivion is the best TES game for emergent gameplay and meme material, the addition of full-voice acting plus the developers pushing unstable new technology makes for genuinely surprising and hilarious moments that are often impossible to replicate
Morrowind is the best TES game in terms of style and atmosphere imo, no other TES game has come even close to the surrealist fever dream that is Vvardenfell. the biomes, the character designs, the sound effects, it has a very distinct ~vibe~ no other game has
first off a quick thing about custom textures: since daggerfall does some sort of color indexing colors wont appear exactly as they do on the texture file, i imagine theres more "proper" ways to work with this but i just did this for a fun experiment and it works good enough :}
in addition to new golden armor it adds updates the models of four female character armor models bc apparently they originally used the models from the male characters? which is actually kinda cool and another example of accidental queerness being edited out of a game
some anime + furry heads work but im still figuring it out, i could possibly design models based on the most common portrait positionings but that feels risky since it would look really bad with all other faces
ill prolly just have to encourage ppl to use more centered portraits
