this is my folie à deux :
Riddler believing that he's embracing his 'true, villain self,' projecting himself onto Joker instead of Batman. In actuality, though, he's being manipulated into being Joker's "harlequin"... It's a tragic coping mechanism.

Concept artist Matthew Savage confirms that Matt Reeves' vision of the Riddler murders is informed by true crime documentaries.
The 'Evil Genius' true story centers on Brian Wells, a suspect who used a collar bomb and cane-gun. The cane may be a cool part of Riddler's evolution. https://t.co/bFyY723U8H
Also, this idea of Batman and Gordon discussing corruption while looking above a falsely calm image of the 'once-great' Gotham City hearkens back to Year One, in a way.
They're far above the chaos of the streets, but it still haunts them... "From here, you can't see the enemy." https://t.co/7tdqYb8ROM
My updated fan art (from May 8, 2021) vs. the official reveal
~ Huge thanks to @cinnamonpepsi for coloring the original version!

Bill Sienkiewicz's promotional art for #TheBatman seemingly reveals another practical design detail in Dano's Riddler:
There's a belt hidden under his coat, on which he carries his signature duct tape & possibly some other essential tools. He's a forensic genius, but quite DIY.
Given the grounded nature of #TheBatman, we can consider the possibility that Serkis' Alfred used to teach Pattinson's Bruce how to physically defend himself.
This version of Alfred is "more muscular" than we've seen before, anyway. He is both the family butler & bodyguard.
Only a few slight adjustments were needed to achieve the full Robert Pattinson aesthetic. 👌
Before / After
#TheBatman
Earlier last year, an artist named Chris Weston shared concept art that he drew for a project (image 1). He says that Robert Pattinson stars in the project.
Chris is not credited on https://t.co/dKHEtrJTtt, but this seems to be for #TheBatman. Reply or quote with your theories!
AP and BigBatTheory are on another level with their ideas and visualizations. 🔥
It would be cool if Jay Lycurgo plays Tim Drake Robin for DC television, while also playing a very re-created version of Robin in Pattinson's #TheBatman universe.
The actor seems to love this idea.
ART TRAIN 🎨Thanks for tagging me @TheSpike_Art, @cinnamonpepsi, @arvarvart, @mmyilmazyurt, @BigBatTheory!
I don't always draw. When I do, I draw what I am excited about, #TheBatman. I love to get one of my many talented friends to color my drawings.
