Jiao Bingzhen was a Qing Dynasty era painter and Chinese convert to Catholicism. The blend of Eastern and Western artistic style in his work is attributable to his cooperation with Jesuits in the study of astronomy.

Tsunenaga received an honorary citizenship and title of nobility while in Rome. While his embassy was not the first diplomatic mission sent from Japan to the West, it remains the most well known.

St. Peter Yu Tae-chol (1826-1839) was a Korean Catholic and a martyr. At the age of thirteen, he was severely beaten on orders of state officials and was finally strangled to death in prison, joining his father in martyrdom.
