@ithayla Clone Wars, Bad Batch and Rebels make up the Star WARS trilogy for me. In which the themes of war profiteering, indentured servitude, religious dogma, dangerous patriotism, neglected veterans, PTSD, diaspora, and fascism are all the central themes. And found family is the answer!
I know the Lizard's design in this movie is controversial, I imagine it's because most had grown use to the more exaggerated snout of the 90s and this design is clearly leaning towards the earlier more human look.
For those who don't know, in the mainline comics, Richard and Mary Parker were SHIELD Agents, tasked with posing as traitors to infiltrate a plan hatched by the Red Skull, however upon discovering their ruse, Skull had them killed in a plane crash and SHIELD disavowed them.
A few critiques up front because I'd rather talk about the things I like, but I do feel like the choice to use Riot as the main antagonist was a bizarre one. Of the children of Carnage, they picked the Grey one? It makes for some particularly visually muddy fight scenes.
It is however, remarkable what a good lighting treatment can do to a costume. Obviously some of this is due to the advancements in CG over the last twenty years but I'm surprised with how not dated Goblin looks in his brief appearance in the NWH trailer.
It's hard not to look back at the amazing concept art and production proto-types and wish for what could have been. Alex Ross's draws on less iconic imagery, but does lean harder into Raimi's horror sensibilities.
I know this costume was never going to be his debut look, which is probably for the best, but I do deeply love the unused Alex Ross design for the characters film costume and am glad it's found it's way to influencing future looks for the character.
