I mentioned it in the Omni-Man fight back in issue 11 but these fights are definitely what Invincible has become known for...and for good reason. To be fair Allen had a similar encounter recently but that was more of an ambush. This is a fight.
Invincible #28

Recap: Mark limits are tested harder than ever before. Amber questions their relationship during his absence. Immortal confides in Sanford about his new outlook on life. The Mauler Twins reborn! Nolan faces the consequences of his actions.
SPOILER ALERT
God I love this look. Nolan consistently has my favorite costumes moving forward.
The beginning of a long road back...

I'm such a sucker for alternate universe takes on characters and this is just the tip of the iceberg for this series use of the trope
While definitely bordering on a white savior complex i do love the concept of a young hero discovering their abilities far surpass the use of normal super heroics. Why fight crime when you truly fight injustice itself.
I love when characters powers have clear limitations, I feel it forces writers to be more creative and deliberate when writing them.
Invincible #19
Released: November 2004
Recap: An imposter among us! Eve is fed up with William. Mark is blowing it with Amber. Invincible and Titan team up! Has Mark met his match? A new era in organized crime begins.
One of my favorite characters gets introduced as a sleeper surprise in the end of this issue... 👀
