Yes, the Amiga developers saw fit to redraw Masao into KARATE SPOCK. I don't know why. This change somehow also made it into the MD port, made by a completely separate development team. 🤷♀️
The first thing that tipped me off/confused me however was the load screen - featuring the exact same artwork as the even more mysterious "Spanish MSX port" of DD1, which I was not even able to get running.

Unfortunately however, by widening the playfield from 256 to 320 pixels without modifying the proportions of the artwork, the Genesis version just looks flat out wrong when aspect ratio corrected for a 4:3 screen. Funnily it would've looked much better the low resolution mode!
