@INKBLOTo For Hard Sci-fi, I'd recommend Planetes, it's about space travel, and the various implications/consequences of it.
Fullmetal Alchemist is the ole' standby classic, and the Manga is the best way to experience the story.
Shaman King is standard Shonen, but the art rips.

The go on and on about how “dangerous” the Batarang X is throughout the entire comic.

SPOILER ALERT:
It’s just a really big one that he can ride. They launch it from the Batmobile. He just stands on top of it as it glides to and from his destination. It doesn’t even spin.
