In the end, this image of a "body" emerged from the canvas and that was where I decided to leave the painting alone. More than a picture, it captures the essense of the subject while also being an invitation to the viewer to complete the meaning of the work in their own mind.
Gradually, as I kept working on the canvas, various shapes and forms emerged. The path from abstraction to figuration is in a way like rewinding the gradual abstraction of the figure that took place in the early 20th century in western art.
