Past eruptions (pt.1):
Keanakako'i (1790)- explosive eruption occurred b/c magma came in contact with a crater lake @ Halema'uma'u. The surge of hot gas/ash killed >80 rival warriors, helping Kamehameha to become 1st king of Footprints can still be seen in ash.
