2012.
My favorite game from 2012 is Mass Effect 3. It's pretty amazing. The Legendary Edition that came out last year is the definitive way to play it, so I'm also going to mention another favorite from 2012: The Last Story. The Last Story is a hidden Wii gem, I like it a lot.

2013.
Fire Emblem Awakening came out in 2012 in Japan, but it didn't come out anywhere else until 2013. Since I'm not Japanese and don't live in Japan, obviously the 2013 release is what counts. Anyway, Awakening is amazing and my favorite game from 2013.
