Concept art of fighting projectiles for various piñata species. Of course, Fizzlybear's and Buzzlegum's projectiles (bottom left corner) are references to the Banjo-Kazooie series. #VivaPiñata
Though fish piñatas were considered for both mainline #VivaPiñata games, the only fish piñata that made it into the games is the goldfish in Miss Petula's fishbowl hat. According to Rare editorial lead Leigh Loveday, this goldfish is Roysten from the Banjo-Kazooie series.
To rerig game models for the animated series, Bardel animators used a single general-purpose rig that was applied to all pinatas. Due to the cast’s varied body types, this rig had to be altered to apply to each animal. These annotated images show alterations that had to be made.
In addition to all the Christmas cards I've talked about already, Rare's official Christmas cards from 2009 and 2013 both featured piñatas prominently. Happy New Year! #VivaPiñata
Pocket Paradise uses screenshots from its Xbox 360 counterpart to show Piñata appearing and changing colors (when they become residents and change their variant). These screenshots seem to be digitally altered to better fit Pocket Paradise’s aesthetic.
Despite #VivaPiñata: Pocket Paradise's tutorial episodes featuring characters from the animated series, episodes hosted by Franklin use a render of Fizzlybear's model from the games, rather than one of Franklin's model. Most obviously, the game render lacks Franklin's teeth.
Jeffe was originally intended to be the boss of Piñata Central, before being replaced by Langston to tie in with the animated series. Some remnants of this are present ingame, including Jeffe's face on chocolate coins, and his name, which derives from "jefe", Spanish for "boss".
I've shared these images from Viva Piñata development before, but thanks to some sleuthing by @oakieland (a.k.a. @Facts_About_BK) I'm able to share higher-quality versions, archived from the defunct website MundoRare.
In 2008, an art contest was held on the https://t.co/IKf7VAgi1x forums. Fans were challenged to draw any piñata dressed up in accessories, and the winning entry would be turned into an official Piñata Vision card from Rare. The winner was Monsieur Quiqui, drawn by @Linken_log.
In the official high-quality renders of the various piñata species (mainly used in wallpapers and guides), piñatas have a flower-patterned tag. Like the tag piñatas use in the cartoon, this tag isn't replicable ingame. Only the background is available.
