The main character Quenelda, has a very appealing attitude. She’s entertaining, passionate, and kind of a rebel. Definitely not the stereotypical kind of privileged female.

I know for a fact that children will love this book simply for the vibrancy of character and the relationships between character and dragon. Somehow, Hare has managed to mix the loyalty and the feel of a common house pet with the scale and power of such a magnificent beast.

The <dragons> have character and personality. They manage to feel both like pets and like great, powerful beasts simultaneously. The best parts are about how the dragons bond with the characters.

The fact that the main character is a female is also refreshing, especially as she isn’t cast into the stereotypical heteronormative outlook of how a female should be. Instead, she’s adventurous, unpredictable and everything the main character should be.
